Nothing Says Fall Like a Waterpark

Happy Friday, everyone! Do you have any fun plans this weekend?

Stephen and I are excited to visit Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels. This is the park’s last weekend before it closes for the season, and we’re hoping the crowds will be thin. With rain in the forecast, we just might get our wish, but not for the right reasons.

It’s a bit strange to think about spending a September Saturday coated in sunscreen, racing down waterslides. My Virginia roots tell me that September is a month for crisp hikes, apple-picking and football games, and the abundance of pumpkin-heavy recipes currently flooding the internet is doing nothing to lessen my seasonal cravings.

I had pretty much ruled out an apple-picking trip this year, until I discovered that apple orchards do indeed exist in Texas. Llano and Boerne are the closest options to Austin, and we might make a go of it on Sunday afternoon if the weather cooperates. I really hope it does. Crockpot applesauce sounds like heaven right now.

Enjoy the weekend!
