A Key West Sunset

Last week, I joined my family for a little Hixson vacation in Key West, Florida. My parents and brother have visited the Keys before, but this was my first time there. The turquoise water, 80 degree weather, Cuban coffee, wandering roosters and fresh seafood were all fantastic, but the highlight of each day for me was definitely sunset.

My favorite picture from the entire trip is this shot taken Wednesday at dusk.

We missed the actual sunset by minutes that night, but the clouds were stunning long after the sun went down. That photo is 100% unedited; isn’t that incredible? I can’t get over it.

On Friday evening, we had drinks at Sunset Pier and caught the entire show.

We’re planning to watch Silver Linings Playbook tonight. A very different show from last Friday’s entertainment above, but I’m still looking forward to it!

Weekend by Camera Phone

For Christmas, Stephen and I gave my aunt and uncle a gift card to the Alamo Drafthouse with a few strings attached. The idea was for them to come spend a weekend with us in Austin, during which time we could all go see a Master Pancake show together.

Last weekend worked for everyone’s schedules, and we had a blast hanging out in Austin and watching the Master Pancake team abuse Ali Larter and Beyonce for their performance in Obsessed.

Spiderhouse Cafe, just north of UT campus, is seriously my new favorite place. I think I want to live there.

Locals, have you ever been to the Great Outdoors garden center on South Congress? It’s so fun! Reminds me of the awesome junk garden from the Harriet the Spy movie.

Besides eating and shopping, we spent a lot of time with the puppy.

PS- Stephen and I bought a puppy. His name is Renley. And I’m in love.

In other news, I should really brush my hair more often.
